Millar Merrigan was founded in 1966 and incorporated in its present name in 1973. The firm has evolved into an integrated multi-disciplinary organisation, and is a professional consulting group providing town planning, engineering, surveying and landscape architectural services for a wide range of development projects.
Millar Merrigan has a solid reputation throughout the development industry and in particular with the various councils, government bodies, servicing authorities and private corporations with which we have been associated.
Millar Merrigan has had a long association with the former Urban Land Authority (ULA) and has been engaged as Town Planning, Engineering and/or Surveying consultants. We have also in recent times carried out a number of design contracts with various Councils including Yarra Ranges, Moonee Valley, Darebin, Whittlesea, Maribyrnong, Alpine and Delatite plus various direct design commissions for VicRoads and other Government Authorities.
Millar Merrigan has completed various development assessments for the Department of Treasury and Finance to assist in the valuation of surplus government land. We are currently listed as one of the department’s principal consultants for development assessments which includes preliminary planning, assessment of development potential, servicing assessment, feasibility studies, and reports and recommendations. We have also had a long association with VicRoads providing preliminary planning, development assessment and feasibility services for compensation assessment associated with compulsory acquisitions.
Millar Merrigan have been recognised as consultants in design awards from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Vic) and have received awards for three projects since the awards started in 1996. One of these projects was the Forest Gardens Estate, Forest Hill, which won the Best Medium Density Development in Victoria in 1997. We acted as consultants from the inception of the project through to completion and undertook the Urban Design, Landscape Design, Town Planning, Engineering and Surveying.
As part of the Town Planning for this estate we carried out extensive community consultation which resulted in a number of design modifications, these changes resulted in acceptance by the surrounding community and local council.
We believe that having the combination of the above disciplines under the one roof gives our company an advantage in being able to produce innovative design solutions that are also practical and cost effective.
Our company also has substantial experience in working with other design, professionals as part of a project team. For example we have acted as consultants in conjunction with the architects, McIntyre Partnership in the development of the Dinner Plain Resort at Mount Hotham and we are currently the surveyors and civil engineers for the Wyndham Waters Estate at Truganina.
